When I picked up Food Fight I knew my restoration options were somewhat limited due to lack of reproduction artwork. Luckily for me the overall condition of my game was pretty clean and Phoenix Arcade did reproduce the Control Panel Overlay (CPO) a couple of years back. So I’ll be sticking to the basics before I toss her into the game room. The basics involved cleaning the inside of the cabinet, wiping down the outside of the cabinet (Magic Erasers are indeed magic), repainting the marquee brackets and restoring the control panel.

“The Dirty Beer Wench” Puts on Makeup!

Ice Cold Beer finally got a final cleaning and a couple coats satin black. When you plan to apply vinyl to a cabinet it a very important to put a couple of good coats of paint on your cabinet to give the vinyl something to stick too. Just remember, adhesive on vinyl WILL NOT stick to a flat finish so always use a satin, semi gloss or glossy finish. I prefer to use oil based paint with a satin finish with a foam roller.
Overall Ice Cold Beer was not in too bad of shape and the cabinet was pretty solid. But after restoring more than a few games games I’ve learned that even the easiest restoration takes longer than expected.
About a month ago a somewhat uncommon “Exidy” game titled Pepper II showed up on a curb in Indianapolis, Indiana. What was even more surprising was that not only was it posted on the local craigslist but collectors we discussing it on CoinOpSpace.com and KLOV.com yet it wasn’t picked up for about three days. Living in Michigan I never pay much attention to ads outside of my state. However, owning both a Venture and a Mouse Trap I found it a little unsettling that a Pepper II might end up in a landfill. But what could I do living over five hours away? Not a whole lot.

“The Dirty Beer Wench” Gets a Makeover!

When I added an Asteroids, Mouse Trap and a Mad Planets to my collection in January I figured it was going to be a busy year for collecting and restoring. However between family, work, freelance, reproducing Nintendo T-molding and building my new e-commerce store I haven’t fully restored anything this year. I mean, I was able to detail Mouse Trap and Mad Planets but as far as a full fledge restoration it just hasn’t happened this year. Until today when I decided that “Ice Cold Beer” was going to be my first (and probably only) restoration of 2010.
