Savvy Door Opening Serpents Attack Disney’s Gaston.

This past weekend I managed to scan the side-art of my two Exidy games. Those games being “Mouse Trap” and “Venture”. It really made me feel good that I’m doing my part to help preserve another piece of arcade history.
After I was done scanning them I stitched the scans together in Photoshop. I then sent the Venture Photoshop document off to Brian Jones of gamestencils.com so he could start vectoring the side-art. In fact, a couple of hours after I sent the file off to Brian, he already did a final pass at stitching the art, cleaning up the flaws and dropped the flattened document into illustrator and added his cut path. As you can see, Brian is ready to start vectoring the Venture side-art. Unfortunately, I will not be getting to Mouse Trap side-art for a week or two.
If all goes as planned, Brian hopes to have the Venture side-art screened by thisoldgame.com first and hopes there is enough interest in Mouse Trap side-art to have that done after. Stay tuned!
Hey way to go Bill! Sometimes it takes more than just one person to pull off a repro and heres a great example
a big thanks for your contribution
Thanks and I agree Rich. It took Brian to kind of push me to do my part and scan them in. Now, to start vectoring!
I have begun vectoring the black.. this one’s gonna take a while. Trying to figure out if it’s going to be remotely cost effective to screen 🙁 I absolutely LOVE Venture and Iknow a lot of folks could use nice sideart for it but not sure if that translates into enough purchasers to make it at least a break even project. Either way, gonna give it a run! Worst case we inkjet it and perhaps rich silks clear on it like he did journey.
Per Rich’s recommendation I’m going to try and knock out everything but the black line work on the Mouse Trap art. Then drop the black raster line into illustrator. Those green dots that make up the blend on those snakes look like a lot of work. Let me know if I can help you out.
Bill,
About time you got this done..what took you so long?
Seriously..great job. Two that definitely need done. I would be happy with either silkscreen or solvent ink with a clear silkscreen since Rich has perfected that style of printing producing art too…
