Ice Cold Beer finally got a final cleaning and a couple coats satin black. When you plan to apply vinyl to a cabinet it a very important to put a couple of good coats of paint on your cabinet to give the vinyl something to stick too. Just remember, adhesive on vinyl WILL NOT stick to a flat finish so always use a satin, semi gloss or glossy finish. I prefer to use oil based paint with a satin finish with a foam roller.

Overall Ice Cold Beer was not in too bad of shape and the cabinet was pretty solid. But after restoring more than a few games games I’ve learned that even the easiest restoration takes longer than expected.

About a month ago a somewhat uncommon “Exidy” game titled Pepper II showed up on a curb in Indianapolis, Indiana. What was even more surprising was that not only was it posted on the local craigslist but collectors we discussing it on CoinOpSpace.com and KLOV.com yet it wasn’t picked up for about three days. When purchasing a game that only lived one year in an arcade then spends the next 25 years living comfortably in a home use only environment there isn’t much you need to do to “make it better”. However, being a perfectionist who usually enjoys doing full restorations there is always something you can do to “make it better” and my Mad Planets wasn’t any different. But this time things were a little different and there was no reason to take a game who survived 26 years and fully restore it.
