“The Dirty Beer Wench” Gets All Dolled Up!
Tagged Under : ICB, Ice Cold Beer, restoration
It’s been a little over two months since I started restoring Ice Cold Beer and it’s time to wrap up this restoration and do some final detailing and assembly.
The play-field is in great shape so I just gave it a good polishing with Novus #2 “Fine Scratch Remover” and a good cleaning with Novus #1 “Plastic Clean & Shine”.
At this time the only reproduction Control Panel Overlay (CPO) that is available is from Game On Graphics. The problem is that the original CPO is silk screened and Game On Graphix’s reproduction is ink jet. Is that really a problem? Not really. However the original screened CPO texture is pretty textured (almost fabric like) and uses “Gold Ink”. There is no way to solvent ink jet “gold” without it looking “brown”. Blah.
So at this time I decided to give my original CPO a good cleaning with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and apply a strip of Black Pica Vinyl across the front to “hide” the damaged vinyl edge. Overall, I personally think it looks great.
Before reassembling the game I made sure clean the inside of the cabinet and give the power supply, wiring harness and play-field a good cleaning.
Even though motors and belts seemed to be good before the restoration I decided to buy replacement motors and belts from Mike at PacManDotCom.com. I even decided to take advantage of their “Motor Replacment Service“.
The Stern N-26 1200 coil that runs the ball plunger was giving me a little bit of problems so I decided to pickup a replacement from “The Pinball Resource“.
Carefully cleaned and installed the glass and the secured it with the control panel.
Nothing like a fresh and clean Ice Cold Beer that is ready for game room. All I have to do now is patiently wait for the side art to be completed. In the meantime I’ll enjoy playing a few games.
Where did you purchase the strip of Black Pica Vinyl for the console overlay?
Hi Alan, I’m sure you’ve found it by now (Sorry for the delay) but Happ Controls has what you need…
