“The Dirty Beer Wench” Puts on Makeup!
Tagged Under : ICB, Ice Cold Beer, restoration
Ice Cold Beer finally got a final cleaning and a couple coats satin black. When you plan to apply vinyl to a cabinet it a very important to put a couple of good coats of paint on your cabinet to give the vinyl something to stick too. Just remember, adhesive on vinyl WILL NOT stick to a flat finish so always use a satin, semi gloss or glossy finish. I prefer to use oil based paint with a satin finish with a foam roller.
For the sides I used an older discontinued 3M woodgrain vinyl which was slightly lighter than the original vinyl (I personally think it looks better than the original vinyl). I’m just thankful that Chris25810 was kind enough to send me enough vinyl to do my Ice Cold Beer restoration.
I used HAPP’s Black Pica Vinyl for the front and the top of the cabinet. This is a really good match to the original vinyl which was originally on the cabinet and pretty easy to work with.
The coin door and carriage bolts look good as new with a couple of coats of black satin Krylon spray paint.
Be sure to check back tomorrow when I unveil a factory fresh Ice Cold Beer.
